Day 1: (D)   ARRIVE IN HO CHI MINH CITY        

Good Morning Vietnam. A land filled with a rich and diverse history, through its colonial past and war time struggles, modern Vietnam continues to embrace its traditional culture and is renowned for its friendly and welcoming locals, flavour packed cuisine and beautiful landscapes. Flying into Ho Chi Minh City experience a true taste of the hustle and bustle of a 21st Century Asian City where motorbikes vie for space alongside traditional man powered cyclo. Arrive in Hochiminh, pick up and transfer in . Hotel check in ( after 14:00pm). Hochiminh city tour if time available . Dinner. O/n in HCM city

Day 2: (B, L, D)          HO CHI MINH CITY – Agriculture Village – Cu Chi Tunnel     

Breakfast at hotel.

08:00: Leaving to hotel visit to HCM Agricultural Villages (around 1hr + drive)

09:15: Visiting Cow areas, Buffalo Areas; Rice Fields; Fish, prawn, chicken, duck areas. Visit Big Herbs, Spices, Vegetables and Mushrooms areas. Take challenges on the Garden Become real Vietnamese Farmer on Vietnamese Traditional Hat and Pick up a lot of Herbs, spices, Vegetables and Mushrooms on The Garden

10:30: Join cooking challenge. Hands on cooking class with three dishes and 1 dessert and enjoy what they have done for LUNCH; enjoy Great Healthy Cooking Tips; with nice certificate, recipes, souvenirs; collect email and update nice healthy recipes monthly.

14:00: Visit Rice Papers Villages and Rubber Tree forest, to understand how to make rice papers and get HANDS ON to make rice papers; explore the big rubber tree forest and understanding how the local people Collect The Latex

14:30: Visit Cu Chi Tunnels – another name is “Steel land”. It’s where the army troops of the VC (Viet Cong) concealed themselves during the Vietnam war. The tunnel systems were created by local people over a period of years. With 3 levels of depth, it was never discovered by the US during the war despite its proximity to Saigon.

17:00 Transfer back to hotel

19:00 Dinner at local restaurant

20:30: Debrief in hotel & overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.

Day 3: (B,L,D)    MEKONG DELTA TOUR   – HOCHIMINH – HOIAN     

Abf at hotel. 08:00am: Depart for My Tho, enjoy the scenic journey along the National Highway bordered by green rice fields, stopping to see how the rice is cultivated an take pictures of the rice farms in the Mekong River Delta. On arrival at My Tho, take a leisurely boat trip to Tortoise Island. Then disembark and go for a gentle stroll through the picturesque orchards and fruit garden.

11:00am: Enjoy lunch at local restaurant.

Enjoy a boat ride through Tan Thach natural canal in Ben Tre, Return to the water for a relaxing rowing boat ride along a small canal, cruising in the shade of the water coconut trees. Learn about bee-keeping in the delta and sip a refreshing cup of honey tea to the accompaniment of traditional Vietnamese folk music. Then travel the narrow rural countryside road by horse cart to visit the coconut candy mill to find out how this delicious confectionery is made and sample the finished product. Return by boat to My Tho and drive back to Saigon. Take late afternoon flight to Danang,  pick up and transfer to Hoian

Day 4: (B, L, Cooking class dinner)                           HOI AN        

Hoi An is an UNESCO heritage listed town as it is an exceptionally well preserved example of a quintessential Asian trading port, with its narrow laneways, fusion of cultures and traditional architecture. Be transported back in time on a walking tour of the Old Town, visiting the Chinese Assembly Halls, Japanese Bridge (also known as Lai Vien Bridge which means “Bridge of friends from faraway countries) and ancestral family homes. Fancy auditioning for Masterchef? Learn to cook Vietnamese cuisine like a local and discover the

secrets of unique local herbs whilst preparing lunch during a Vietnamese cooking class at the Red Bridge Cooking School.

 

Day 5: (BLD)HOI AN (community working) – Danang – Hanoi              

Abf at hotel.

AM: Visit the Orphanage in Hoian to do the volunteer works here. Lunch

PM: Transfer to Danang and take flight to Hanoi – the capital of Vietnam.  Cyclo tour around Old through the charming Old Quarter and rub shoulders with vendors in conical hats plying their wares. Visit the pretty Hoan Kiem Lake where older people gather at dawn to practice Tai Chi, Ngoc Son Temple – the temple of the Jade Mountain. Dinner. O/n in Hanoi

Day 6: (BLD)  HANOI – HALONG BAY   

Today travel by coach to the UNSECO World Heritage listed Ha Long Bay, which means “where the dragon descends into the sea”. Situated in the Golf of Tolkan, the emerald bay is made up of over 1600 islands, which according to legend, were created by a great dragon living in the mountains. A 4 hour cruise takes in stunning scenery and mystical limestone karsts. Visit the recently discovered Thien Cung Grotto and Dau Go Cave, as well as Hai Hing Village. After the cruise, return to Halong City and visit the local night market in the evening, which sells local handicrafts and other souvenirs.

Day 7 (B, Vietnamese buffet L at Lotus restaurant, D)        HALONG – HANOI

Return to thriving Hanoi by coach, upon arrival sombre Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex ( closed on Monday & Friday) , the Presidential Palace, and the Stilt House where the revered leader Ho Chi Minh lived on and off during his term of office. o take a guided walking tour, the Confucius Temple of Literature and the infamous Hoa Lo Prison complex, (time permitting), nicknamed the Hanoi Hilton by American POW’s who served time here after being captured by the Vietnamese during the war. In the evening take in a Water puppet performance, a tradition that dates back to the 11th Century.

Day 8: (B)                                            -HANOI –Dept         

Abf at hotel. Free at leisure until transfer to the airport for the flight back to Australia.
