Day 1: (D) AUSTRALIA – HO CHI MINH CITY
Good Morning Vietnam. A land filled with a rich and diverse history, through its colonial past and war time struggles, modern Vietnam continues to embrace its traditional culture and is renowned for its friendly and welcoming locals, flavour packed cuisine and beautiful landscapes. Flying into Ho Chi Minh City experience a true taste of the hustle and bustle of a 21st Century Asian City where motorbikes vie for space alongside traditional man powered cyclos.
Day 2: (B. Vietnamese Buffet lunch , D) HO CHI MINH CITY
A guided tour today of Old Saigon takes in the former French Colonial splendour of the Central Post Office and Notre Dame Cathedral plus the historic landmark The Reunification Palace, which will forever be associated with the Fall of Saigon and led to the renaming of the city. Later in the afternoon visit the University of Social Sciences and Humanities where there is the opportunity to mix with students and talk about the differences and similarities of each other’s lives, cultures, families, interests and aspirations.
Day 3: (BLD) HO CHI MINH CITY – CU CHI TUNNEL – HOI AN
During the Vietnam War underground tunnels were used by the Viet Cong and the infamous Cu Chi Tunnels were the location of several military campaigns. Here the Viet Cong’s network of tunnels served as supply routes, hiding spots and underground living quarters containing storage bunkers, hospitals, and kitchen facilities. Squeeze into one of the narrow entrances for an understanding of how difficult life was living underground and see the various types of booby traps set up to snag American troops. It was here a specialist Australian engineering troop, 3 Field Troop, earned the nick name Tunnel Rats after discovering the immense military significance of the tunnels, being the first set of foreign soldiers to penetrate them. In the late afternoon return to Ho Chi Minh City airport for the flight to Danang and then be transferred by coach to Hoi An.
Day 4: (B, Lunch, Cooking class Dinner, ) HOI AN
Hoi An is an UNESCO heritage listed town as it is an exceptionally well preserved example of a quintessential Asian trading port, with its narrow laneways, fusion of cultures and traditional architecture. Be transported back in time on a walking tour of the Old Town, visiting the Chinese Assembly Halls, Japanese Bridge (also known as Lai Vien Bridge which means “Bridge of friends from faraway countries) and ancestral family homes. Fancy auditioning for Masterchef? Learn to cook Vietnamese cuisine like a local and discover the secrets of unique local herbs whilst preparing lunch during a Vietnamese cooking class at the Red Bridge Cooking School for the dinner. After dinner, free at leisure for shopping. There is also time to have clothing tailor made in one of Hoi An’s many tailor shops….. O/n in Hoian
Day 5: (BLD) ADVENTURE ROUND BASKET BOAT & BUFFALO RIDE in hoian – hue
Abf at hotel. You will be transferred to a rice paddy farm where you can see local farmer and his buffalo. After a short introduction about buffalo and rice farm, you are ready for a ride on the back of your buffalo that we name him or her as B.M.W of Vietnam (The word B.M.W that you can understand it as one of the best cars in the world produced by Germany. However, you can learn these three words such as: B (Buffalo), M (made) and W (way) – BUFFALO MADE WAY. Then your funny experience will continue going down to a local fishing village where you are able to learn something about local fishing industry and its locally cutural life. You will take a rest at a local home with a cup of tea offered by a local host. Our guide will give you a brief about basket boat adventure. You will be told about the safety instruction how to get balanced on the round basket boat, how to paddle in it a proper way. Of course, life jacket will be provided to you and our local people will help you how to navigate it. We will you be confident until you can row it by yourself. Your tour is ended after a light snack at a local family while enjoying a great round basket performance on the river which is awesome that you can see only one time in your lifetime.
Lunch. Transfer to Hue city – the Royal & Imperical city of Vietnam. On arrival in Hue tour the Tu Duc Tomb, the impressive royal mausoleum of the former emperor who had 104 wives before visiting Dong Ba market. This evening experience a traditional music performance with dinner. O/n in Hue
Day 6: (BL, D at Koto restaurant ) HUE- HANOI
Hue is a city with a historical and heartbreaking past. The capital of the Nguyen emperors, many of its former imperial glories can still be visited today despite Hue being the location of one of the bloodiest and longest battles of the Vietnam War. Begin with a boat ride on the picturesque Perfume River to visit the Thien Mu Pagoda, a 21 metre tall octagonal tower that dates back to 1601 which has also been a meeting point for political demonstrations since 1961. Tour the Imperial City of the former Emperor Gia Long along with the Royal Palace. In the afternoon transfer to Hue airport and fly to Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. Pick up and Hanoi city visit Hoan Kiem Lake, Ngoc Son Temple, Old Quarter. Dinner. O/ n in Hanoi
Day 7: (BLD) HANOI city tour & Community Activities
Abf at hotel. Visit the imposing and sombre Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Complex, the Presidential Palace, and the Stilt House where the revered leader Ho Chi Minh lived on and off during his term of office, the Confucius Temple of Literature and the infamous Hoa Lo Prison complex, (time permitting), nicknamed the Hanoi Hilton by American POW’s who served time here after being captured by the Vietnamese during the war. Lunch.
PM: Visit the Orphange and doing the volunteer works at Orphange .
Dinner.
In the evening take in a Water puppet performance, a tradition that dates back to the 11th Century. O/n ion Han
Day 8: (BLD) HANOI – HALONG BAY
Today travel by coach to the UNSECO World Heritage listed Ha Long Bay, which means “where the dragon descends into the sea”. Situated in the Golf of Tolkan, the emerald bay is made up of over 1600 islands, which according to legend, were created by a great dragon living in the mountains. A 4 hour cruise takes in stunning scenery and mystical limestone karsts. Visit the recently discovered Thien Cung Grotto and Dau Go Cave, as well as Hai Hing Village. After the cruise, return to Halong City and visit the local night market in the evening, which sells local handicrafts and other souvenirs.
Day 9: (B, Vietnamese buffet L at Lotus restaurant, D) HALONG – HANOI
Abf at hotel. Return to thriving Hanoi by coach to take a tour to visit Bat Trang, traditional porcelain and pottery village with history of seven centuries, is an interesting attraction in Hanoi that tourists should not ignore. Visiting Bat Trang, tourists can take a walk for sightseeing and shopping. Besides many ceramic stores along the road in the village, tourists should visit Bat Trang Porcelain and Pottery Market where they can directly make pottery products by themselves. Many youngsters and foreign tourists are interested in in this pottery- making experience, and spend a whole day in the market to make a gift for family or friends. Back to Hanoi. Free at leisure for shopping. O/n in Hanoi
Day 10: (B) -HANOI –Dept
Abf at hotel. Free at leisure until transfer to the airport for the flight back to sweet home
